Eric Sheffer
President
Eric Sheffer is a professional engineer with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Science Degree from the University of Michigan.  He worked in the auto industry for 17 years prior to starting Superior Play.  He is married (20 years) and has his own playground testing crew of nine children, consisting of 5 boys and 4 girls.  He resides in Hartland, Michigan and loves the outdoors, including fishing, camping and snowboarding.  He umpires the local little league baseball games and enjoys watching his kids play multiple sports.  In his spare time, Eric plays guitar, designs houses or flies remote control planes.

Tim Sheffer

Tim Sheffer has worked in the playground industry since 1992.  He has degree in Education from Northern Michigan University with a dual minor in math and science.  Tim and his wife married in 2006 and have 2 sons. He loves spending time outdoors fishing, camping, and hunting. He is a champion frisbee golf player. 

Carl Pietila
Rec Consultant
Carl Pietila attended Michigan Technological University and received a degree in Business Management.  Carl originally worked in the recreation industry selling and installing swimming pools.  He worked in the automotive industry as a designer for several years prior to joining Superior Play in 2007.  Carl lives in the Hartland area with his wife and their 4 sons and 3 daughters.  He enjoys vacationing in the Houghton/Hancock area of the Upper Peninsula.  His spare time is spent on the water, boating, waterskiing , and fishing.

Doug Smith
Rec Consultant
Doug Smith is an entrepreneur, a sports enthusiast, and according to his oldest daughter, a director of fun!  He lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with his wife, Linda  and their two daughters.  Doug and his wife own a restaurant in Manistique. He is the play-by-play voice of the Manistique Emeralds football and basketball teams on the town's local radio station.  Doug has coached a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, and softball. He has served as an athletic director for his high school and enjoys playing volleyball.  Doug volunteers his time on a variety of committees and is a member of the Manistique Lions Club.  Doug graduated from Alma College with a degree in speech communication.

Lance Shipman
Rec Consultant
Lance Shipman has over 15 years of professional experience in both the public and private sectors as a landscape architect.  Mr. Shipman has been involved in the design and development of a wide variety of projects including urban, park, streetscape, waterfront, and residential development designs.  Lance is a graduate of Michigan State University, a Licensed Landscape Architect and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.  He lives in South Lyon with his wife and two sons.  He enjoys the outdoors, cycling and participates in scouting with his oldest son. Lance has taught music in several Michigan schools and has been a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for several years.

Jennifer Smith
Rec Consultant
Jennifer Smith has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design.  She is a LEED Accredited Professional.  She has been in the building design and construction industry since graduating, working with a Michigan based green roof manufacturer until she joined Superior Play in January 2012.  Jennifer resides in Grand Rapids and enjoys spending her free time outdoors; biking, swimming, running, kayaking and skiing.  She also dedicates her time to fundraising for Comprehensive Therapy Center and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Leslie Stempek
Bookkeeper
Leslie Stempek joined the Superior Play team in March of 2009.  She has been in the accounting field for over 20 years.  Leslie and her husband live in Hartland, Michigan.  She has a son and a daughter.  Her son is in college and enjoys being part of the baseball team as a pitcher for the Madonna Crusaders. Leslie is very active in her church.  She has been involved with the annual Fish Fry for over 15 years.   She has been a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and intends to become a Stephen Minister to help those in need.  Leslie’s enjoys catering and spending time with her family.

Stephanie Hall
Client Services
Stephanie Hall graduated from Western Michigan University in 1997 with a teaching degree and worked as a permanent substitute for Head Start in southwest Michigan.   She worked as a purchasing agent for an original equipment manufacturer prior to joining the Superior Play team in early 2009.  Stephanie volunteers as a tutor for children and adults, as well as for various outreach activities through church. Stephanie enjoys creative writing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Heidi Foxworthy
Marketing
Heidi Foxworthy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and a Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University.  She has worked in the field of education as a preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher and preschool director.  Heidi lives in the Howell area with her husband and their son and 2 daughters.  She attends her children's various activities including ballet, basketball, and gymnastics.  In her spare time, Heidi enjoys running, scrapbooking and making life an adventure.
